Mornings

I was telling Chris today that I was envious that he never had to deal with Martha in the morning. On the weekends, it's awesome. But when I have to get her up, convince her to go to the car, convince her to let me buckle her up, and do these things before 6:15 AM, I usually don't have the easiest time.

Don't let this face fool you.

She's no angel.

The only way I got her to walk through the door this morning without her blanket was to threaten to carry her. She loves to walk, so threatening to carry her will usually piss her off enough to comply with what you're asking. She walks to the car but then the second I sit her in the car seat she screams and squirms out. I then, like most mornings, do any combination of things to get her to sit still long enough for me to buckle her in. It could be one or all of these:

1 - Asking if she's excited to go see Nana, Pop, Cohen, Daniel, (possibly) Kimmy, and Harley today.
2 - Asking her if she's going to play with Cohen today.
3 - Telling her if she's nice I'll let her walk in to Nana's house.
4 - Distracting her with whatever I can find in the seat next to her. Water bottle, book, umbrella, random toy, etc.
5 - Talk about how it's raining and/or wet outside. (Sometimes it's not, but she likes talking about it.)

So, I strap her in the car seat, but she smacks me in the face a few times in the process. In addition, she throws her milk cup and it rolls halfway down the driveway. I tell her that wasn't nice and that her milk is gone now. This makes her more pissed. She starts yelling "Milk! Milk! Milk!"

I calmly tell her that if she's nice I'll get her milk. She says "Ok."

I get the milk and hand it to her. She pushes it away and screams "No!" I told her that I would hold it.

Get in the car. She yells for her milk about 4 or 5 times during the ride over to my parents house. I try handing her the cup and every time she pushes it away and screams "No!"

As soon as we get to my parent's house, everything is fine. No yelling, no pushing the cup away, she walks in the house totally fine.

Godddddddddddddddddddddddddddd.
